Under the watchful and experienced eye of our Dean of International Students, each international student is assigned an individual advisor to assist with course selection, time management, and school transition. Although Staten Island Academy is a day school, we are proud to have forged relationships with respected agencies who recommend residential housing options.
Dean of International Students
In addition to teaching English as a Second Language and Mandarin Chinese at Staten Island Academy, Ms. Wanwan Weng serves as our Dean of International Students, whose main responsibilities are to advocate for international students and to support their transition to living and learning in the United States. Having studied as an international student, Ms. Weng has considerable knowledge and experience and truly understands the challenges that international students face throughout their journey. Ms. Weng believes in the great potential of all international students and is passionate about helping them to succeed. Ms. Weng received her Bachelor of Arts from University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) in Beijing, China, and her Master's of Education from Harvard University. A mother of two, Ms. Weng enjoys reading, cooking, and music.
Independent Living with Trusted Support
We are pleased this year to announce that international students now have the option of living in a nearby residence, just steps from the campus. Located in one of the most desirable and exclusive communities in Staten Island, the student residence is managed by Apex International Education Partners, LLC. This premium living experience provides students with adult supervision, secure housing, and safe transportation as needed, while fostering independence, responsibility and time management, within walking distance from campus.
