About the Award
We are excited to announce our first Ellen Taylor Community Impact Award for rising or incoming Grade 9 students for the 2026-2027 school year.
The Ellen Taylor Community Impact Scholarship supports the Academy’s commitment to shaping ethical thinkers, bold advocates, and compassionate leaders by recognizing and rewarding outstanding students who have made a positive impact in their community and have demonstrated the potential for strong leadership in future years.
Eligibility Criteria
The recipient of this scholarship is awarded $6,000 over the four years of their education at Staten Island Academy ($1,500 annually). The award supports the Academy’s commitment to shaping ethical thinkers, bold advocates, compassionate leaders, and lifelong learners.
- Applicants must be applying to Grade 9 for the 2026-2027 academic year
- Applicants must demonstrate a strong record of community involvement and leadership through participation in projects, initiatives, or organizations that have positively impacted their local community, while fostering collaboration and inclusivity.

- Applicants must upload at least one letter of recommendation from an individual familiar with their community involvement efforts.
- Applicants must upload a written essay (500-1000 words) on the topic listed on the checklist.
